 1. What is the title of the text and what is the text about?

The magazine article written by Neil Selwyn for WINTER 2020 is titled “Digital labour meets the classroom”. The article is all about innovation and how educators and other professionals cope up with technology and the effect of digital world.

2. What is the author’s view? How do I know?

The author expressed how the travel restrictions and digital innovation has affected the workers in various industries and explain how they cope up with the vast increase of digital working space. The author mentioned about the use of digital classrooms for teachers who can still continue their task remotely.

3. What is the evidence presented by the author to support ideas?

“Many school teachers now use social media to showcase their classrooms to wider online audiences – the most successful achieve ‘micro-celebrity’ or ‘teacher influencer’ status.” (Selwyn, 2020) This quote supports his ideas, it is true that in today’s world, the use of virtual classrooms is everywhere and this gives educators to conduct classes virtually even across the globe.

4. Is the evidence valid? How do I know?

The evidence is valid simply because even UoPeople is using virtual or online classroom and succeed in pursing distant learning for all.

5. Is the evidence relevant? How do I know?

It is relevant because the article focuses on the innovation and speedy increase on digital world and the evidence presented supports the main topic of the article.

6. Have I heard/read anything similar or dissimilar? What was it?

The distant learning program offered by the University of the People is similar to the author’s view. This is a perfect example to explain the title of the article in which workers especially professionals are now engaged into digital working platforms. Most companies operating globally are now starting to fully integrate the digital workspace or platforms to their employees as a means of working remotely.

7. Do I agree or disagree with the views expressed by the author? Why?

I agree and it is evidently visible in today’s generation that workers or classrooms to be exact has become an effective tool for teachers to engage to their classes and increase the reach of education. The views expressed by the author are accurate and relevant especially now that the world is slowly transitioning to a digital world.
